Our Projects

Setting up & running a business

We provide quality online training for
people that need help getting into work.
This ranges from searching for jobs
online, help with confidence and using
social media to find work which we have
provided for the Job Centre Plus.

Poverty in eastbourne

I was sitting in a local cafe and heard people talking on the next table and they wouldn’t believe that there were people in
Eastbourne living in poverty and they wouldn’t accept that this was a problem.
This conversation inspired me to make a video about poverty in Eastbourne but I wanted to put a positive spin on it so in
addition to talking about poverty I went out to meet with local agencies to talk about the level of support that is also
available for people and that sometimes all that we needed to do was to ask.
This result in a filming at a local theatre where 125 people attended which included local councilors, local agencies and some of the homeless people that we had encountered and interviewed.
It was from this meeting that Councillor David Tutt, leader of Eastbourne Borough Council promised local residents to do
something about the homeless crisis.

Coffee Cake and Computers

Coffee, Cake & Computers

One of our first projects was to run FREE Coffee, Cake & Computers events to local residents in Eastbourne.
This project came about after being asked by several people to fix their computers or asked if I could help them shop
online in exchange for a home-baked cake.
This happened so often that we decided to hire a local church so that our team of volunteers could help everyone at the
same time and enjoy some the delicious cake that was on offer.
Hundreds of people received FREE training and many people came back every week not only to top up on their skills but
to enjoy the social interaction from others that they wouldn’t normally talk to.
This was a great cross-generational project that involved many of our young volunteers teaching grandparents and was
enjoyed by everyone.

Mum's Employability

Mums employability

With sleepless nights, post-natal blues, and the pressures of bringing up very young children, getting back to work is often the last thing on the minds of new mothers.
Fully immersing oneself in the world of new parenthood is often all-consuming. So, it is understandable that when mums
reach a point when they need to return to work (mainly because of financial pressures) they have been out of the
workplace for so long that they have no confidence in themselves or their ability. Single mums are more likely to feel
isolated and without support – further hurting their chances. This causes stress-related conditions.
Lack of confidence is a major hurdle that needs to be overcome, and the longer they stay out of the workplace the harder
it can be. Technology is constantly changing, and the workplace moves much faster, requiring an entirely different
approach when balancing the demands of children from pre-pregnancy.
Mums need support in building their self-confidence and training in essential skills for job searching and workplace skills
such as computers and administration. They also need help managing family relationships as they go back into work.

Code + Create Club

CODE + CREATE

After teaching the adults and young people we saw the need to invest in our youngsters so we started up a Code + Create Club in Eastbourne so that our children could learn some essential coding in order for them to learn the skills that they will need to get into work.
This was a lot of fun where we all enjoyed making games!

FREE Website Creation for
Local Charities

Our very first project was funded by the National Lottery and was to create FREE websites for other local charities.
The reason that this service was so important was because we heard from so many people that didn’t know where to go
for help. When we contacted those agencies that could help they told us that they couldn’t afford to market themselves
online either because it was too expensive or because they didn’t have the skills.
During these 12 months of running this project we created over 100 websites for local charities and made it known where
many people could go for help.
